Is NomadTracks free?
Yes — the core is free: record tracks, mark points of interest, overlay unlimited custom maps, import and export GPX, and sync via Synology NAS (plus iCloud on iOS). There is no account to create. NomadTracks Pro unlocks route planning, Dropbox sync and OpenStreetMap basemaps — plus Google Maps basemaps on iOS, which are already free on Android — and every future Pro feature.
Is NomadTracks available for Android?
Yes. NomadTracks is on Google Play for Android phones and tablets, alongside the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch apps. The Android and iOS versions share the same feature core — offline recording, custom map overlays, POIs, route planning and GPX import/export — and backups are portable, so you can move your whole library between Android and iPhone.
What are custom map overlays?
You can import your own map — a scanned paper map, a trail or piste map, a topographic map, or a geospatial PDF or TIFF — and place it over the standard maps. Georeferenced GeoPDFs align automatically; for a photo of a paper map you set control points in the app and see the alignment accuracy in meters. Your live GPS track is then drawn right on top of your own map, fully offline.
Can I plan routes?
Yes. With NomadTracks Pro you can plan routes that follow real roads and trails, see the distance, duration and elevation for each route, then save a planned route as a track and follow it later.
Which devices are supported?
NomadTracks runs on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, and on Android phones and tablets.
Does it sync across my devices?
Yes. On iOS, tracks, photos, custom maps and POIs sync automatically through your own private iCloud. Synology NAS sync is free on both platforms and Dropbox sync is included with Pro. You can also make automatic and manual backups of your entire library — and those backups are portable, so your library moves between Android and iPhone.
Can I import and export my data?
Yes — import tracks and POIs from GPX, GeoJSON or bundles, and export any track or POI as GPX, GeoJSON or a bundle with photos and metadata. Photos keep their location, and recorded heart rate travels in your GPX files in Garmin format, so Strava, Komoot and other apps can read it. There is no lock-in.
Can I record on my Apple Watch without my phone?
Yes — on iOS the Apple Watch app records GPS, heart rate and elevation standalone, you can customize the information shown, and recordings save to Apple Health and sync back via iCloud. There is no smartwatch app on Android.
Does it work offline?
Yes. NomadTracks works fully offline — record tracks, use your imported custom maps and mark points of interest with no connection, and everything syncs once you're back online.

Yes. NomadTracks is privacy-first: there are no ads and no third-party tracking, and your data stays on your device and in your own sync targets — never on our servers.
